Parents of Autistic Children – Strong … Yet Vulnerable

Hello Friends,

Last week I showed some of our Superpowers, and I fully believe we are some of the most heroic people on our planet right now.

This week, I want to explore the other side of that spectrum–what it is that helps us build our Superpowers. It’s about being vulnerable and why I believe being vulnerable is soooo important, and so great.

From my perspective, it’s because as parents of autistic children, we get to feel more, experience more, know more, love more, fall farther, reach higher, connect deeper, and everything else magnified. We get the opportunity, whether we want it or not, to be more whole. We get to know ourselves so much better than we ever would have without the trials, tribulations, heartbreaks, and triumphs that we would normally get to experience.

I invite you to take a look at this excellent TED Talk with the insightful Brene Brown on The Power of Vulnerability. I think you’ll be glad you took the twenty minutes and nineteen seconds out of your life to explore yourself more deeply . . . and why it will make you more of the Superhero that you already are.

So much love to you,

Mica
